Projects from 9th Grade

Both projects that are below, were made after learning the human face proportion in the facial proportion unit.

Clay Head

Picture
About:
I created a human face using facial proportion. I tried to follow the directions of the project and the proportions carefully to make sure that  I wanted that face. After it finally dried, I painted with watercolor paint.
Reflection:
I enjoyed making this project because it was my own creation. It was really fun because we used clay to make this project and I like to use clay. I felt really satisfied with my work with this face because I could really make my own person and because I tried to follow carefully the face proportions to try to make it seem real.

Half-Portrait

Picture
About: This project had also to do with facial proportions. Our teacher took a photo of each of us and instructed to cut the half of it so we can draw the missing half. We used pencil in cardboard. We also used a blending stick to make the shade and try to make it as realistic as I could.
Reflection: During the realization of this project I had a few problems. A big one was the fact and I found really hard to draw the shade because it demanded a lot of concentration. Another problem during this project was drawing the little details of the face such as the eyebrows and eyelashes. I fix this problem by putting the other half of the picture in different sides (upside down) and try it to draw as similar as I could. This project was really fun because it was about drawing your face identical to the picture.

Symbolic Map

Picture
About:
This project was the product of studying symbolism in art. Symbols are used to replace words in works. We were instructed to came up with 10 symbols from ourselves and create a map using the mentioned symbols. In this project we used pencil and water painting to paint it. We draw it on a white cardboard. The goal was to made a personal map with personal characteristics.
Reflection:
I felt that the easiest  part of this project was to create your own land and territory and to choose your symbols that represent yourself. the most frustrating part of this project was not able to accomplish making the symbols in the map. I could wish to change the form of the land, from an island to a country. I think is easiest to make a country than an island because it is difficult to paint all the sea of around. I enjoyed doing this project because it was really fun to color the sea, the land and include your own symbols in a map made by yourself.
